KEY UNDERSTANDING: Students will understand…

  • the importance of their stage voice and body expressions in a performance
  • the need to commit to their role however minute it may be, as it goes beyond themselves and unto everyone
  • movement and gestures can be symbolic and purposeful
  • that the possibility of theatre and drama is endless
  • that the power to communicate effectively lies within themselves, and that performing is for everybody

LEARNER OUTCOMES: Students will be able to…

  • develop a basic understanding of the dramatic arts through movement, tableaux, gestures
  • articulate the nuances of movement in accordance to varied speed and the limitations of their own bodies
  • apply drama devices to communicate effectively
  • create drama pieces through the process of devising and playwriting
  • work together as an ensemble, rather than individuals
